About

PJ Hollenbeck, CPG

Patrick "PJ" Hollenbeck has been in the mining industry since 2000. After graduating from Colorado College with a B.A. in Geology, he started his career at the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine, an AngloGold Ashanti project. His focus was Geotechnical Safety and Stability, where he combined cutting-edge technology such as LiDAR scanners, Earth Resistivity Imaging, and Ground Penetrating Radar with equally powerful software packages, some of his own creation. From there he moved on to KRJA Systems/Maptek, where he was a Technical Services Geologist supporting VULCAN 3D mining software and the i-Site LiDAR scanner and point cloud rendering software. In this role he was responsible for training, technical support, and consulting using VULCAN software, as well as providing support and consulting services using the iSite LiDAR Scanner. In 2007 he left Maptek to pursue a consulting career first with AAT Mining Services, then with SRK Consulting, both as a Senior Resource Geologist. These positions required intensive use of VULCAN software, as well as support for NI 43-101 reports, due dilligence reports, scoping studies, and feasibilty and prefeasibility studies. From SRK he struck out on his own in 2009, forming Blue Goo Enterprises LLC. As an independent consultant, PJ has authored and supported dozens of feasibility studies, scoping studies, and NI 43-101 reports, along with managing and mentoring on-site geologists to ensure accurate and reasonable model creation for internal and external resource reporting.

PJ was an associate with ARANZ Geo/Seequent (Leapfrog software) from 2010 to 2017 and has worked with them on everything from helping as a trainer and demonstrator to product manager for Leapfrog Aspect and Leapfrog EDGE.

PJ's experience includes modeling a wide array of economic mineral deposits, such as:

Fun Fact: The History of the Name

The history of Blue Goo Enterprises spans back to PJ's days at Colorado College, when he started his first company, Blue Goo Hydroseeding.  Hydroseeding, for those who don't know, is the mulch/water/seed mixture that is often seen as the blue or green "stuff" sprayed on the sides of highways.  The hydroseeding is no longer a part of the business, but the name stuck!
